Welcome to the blog! We hope it enriches your life whether you’re a white belt, black belt or karate widow.
We don’t claim to be nutritionists, doctors or know-it-alls here.
What we do have is a passion for martial arts. My name is Sempai Glen; I have a black belt in Shotokan Karate. I have been a black belt for one year and I am working to become a Sensei. In addition to training and assisting in teaching classes at my home dojo, I hold a full time job.
I got into karate when our 15 year old son said ‘hey, come join me.’ If you have kids—my wife and I have 4–you know that when a 15 year old extends an invitation, you join. In 2015 our youngest son along with my wife joined my daughter (Sensei Mae) as Black Belts in Shotokon. I enjoyed the challenge of learning, and all four of us have participated in AAU competitions.
Throughout my journey to black belt and training to become a Sensei, I have met many black belts and senseis who have encouraged and pushed me to where I am today. And that is what we are here to do for you. Feel free to comment and reach out to us with your questions, comments, concerns or anecdotes.
